對於超輕型徒步旅行、騎自行車和其他戶外探險，在高山或是惡劣天氣下爐頭最重要的是可靠性，除了擁有優異的抗風性/抗低溫，極為輕量化、有穩壓器和自動點火的SOTO SOD-310以外，別無選擇。
大多數攻頂爐頭在高海拔/有風/低溫的條件下幾乎難以使用，且氣體消耗非常高，甚至遇上爐頭壞掉的後果可能就是山難，SOTO的攻頂爐頭即為耐用且在惡劣條件下也可以炊事，甚至無需攜帶擋風板(當然有更好)。
